Introductions

You sit among friends, warm and loose,
because they make you feel like you have something
important to say about life and the world.  At last
a fundamental note leaves the speaker.
There's an overtone in your head...WOW!
"That banjo player can pick," "that guitarist can play,"
or "that sax is singing."
Sound waves course through you, affect your mood.
They tell you about joy and pain, irresponsibility and commitment,
love and hate.
You see with your ears fabulous places, oases.
From that point forward you will forever seek out
strings that sing, reeds that ripple,
and mouths that buzz and hum
and cry out their own vision of beauty.
